Stormathon is back! On April 15, Mau Innovation and Storm Innovation Hub invite all students at Malmö University and Kristianstad University to an intense one-day Innovation-Bootcamp.

The concept has found its inspiration in traditional hackathons and is based on the idea of creating new ideas and solutions in a short period of time, together with others. Students interested in problem-solving for societal improvement and innovation, are welcome to apply and are, thereafter, divided into dynamic teams with different competencies. All teams work with the same case throughout the day and are coached in problem-solving methodology and idea development by experienced process managers. At the end of the day, each team pitch their solution for an external client and a jury –  with great prizes for the winning concepts!

Stormathon – Spring 2021

This spring’s topic

The world’s population is constantly increasing and more than half of the population live in urban societies – a figure that is expected to increase by 70% in 2050. This creates obvious advantages such as new opportunities for economic growth but also risks contributing to increased social divisions and strains on our ecosystem. The rapid and large growth of cities creates new demands that need to be addressed and this in an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable way.

Malmö is no exception. More and more people live, study, work and visit the city and for the City of Malmö, it is both a prerequisite and a goal that this growth should be sustainable. Therefore, based on the 2030 Agenda and the Global Sustainability goals 9, 11 and 13, this spring´s Stormathon will be about sustainable urban development, with a focus on sustainable transportation. The case owner is the collaboration platform Västra Hamnen – Have it all and targets you, who wish to develop your problem-solving ability at the same time as you get the chance to influence the development of Malmö and Malmö’s future.

Case owner: Västra Hamnen – Have it all

Västra Hamnen – Have it all is a collaboration platform that works with the sustainable development of the district Västra Hamnen in Malmö. Their three focus areas are mobility, energy conversion and city life. The goal is for Västra Hamnen to be Sweden’s most sustainable district by 2035.

Stormathon is organized by Mau Innovation and Storm Innovation Hub at Malmö University. Please send us an e-mail at if you want more information or have questions about registration.
